City of Enterprise
In July 2024, Workings Homes acquired the iconic EM&M building in downtown Enterprise. Built in the early 1900s, this historic three-story structure houses 27 residential apartments and six commercial spaces. Our mission in acquiring this property is to preserve the area's last remaining non-subsidized affordable apartments, helping meet the growing demand for workforce housing.
In partnership with Wallowa Resources Community Energy Program and Energy Trust of Oregon, we are committed to improving the building's energy efficiency. Together, we are installing state-of-the-art ductless heat pumps to reduce heating costs and enhance comfort with cooling options. Additionally, we are securing funding to upgrade the windows by replacing the outdated single-pane designs with energy-efficient, historically accurate double-pane windows, ensuring both sustainability and preservation.
We are also working on securing funding from Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) to perform a substantial renovation, including upgrading all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
